Detroit Lakes (trfnews.i234.me) — A Detroit Lakes woman is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop in Becker County, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.
The defendant is identified as Jessica Ann Anderson, 44, of Detroit Lakes. Court records say she was charged with failure to provide insurance information as the owner of a motor vehicle. The charge was filed under Minnesota Statute 169.791.
What the complaint says
According to the complaint, the traffic stop happened on January 17, 2026, at about 11:12 a.m. A deputy stopped a vehicle on Minnesota State Highway 34 near Highland Drive after seeing that only one headlight was working.
Authorities said the driver was Anderson. The complaint states that she could not provide proof of insurance for the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Prosecutors charged the case as a gross misdemeanor. The complaint says the charge was enhanced because of prior insurance-related convictions within the past 10 years.

The complaint lists earlier insurance violation convictions on November 18, 2015, November 30, 2015, January 7, 2019, August 16, 2021, and October 6, 2022.
Under the complaint, the current charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both. A charge is only an allegation. The case must still move through the court process.
The case was filed in Becker County District Court, part of Minnesota’s 7th Judicial District. The court file number is 03-CR-26-255. The prosecutor file number is 4328DL-26.
