Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) A Bemidji man is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after a traffic stop in Beltrami County, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.
The defendant is identified as Jesse Jay Hockenson, 48, of Bemidji. Court records say he was charged with driving after cancellation that was listed as inimical to public safety.

What The Complaint Says
According to the complaint, the stop happened at about 9:45 p.m. on March 27, 2026. The vehicle was stopped near Coyote Road and Spencer Road in Beltrami County.
Authorities said the vehicle was stopped because the driver’s license status showed a revoked license. The driver was identified as Hockenson.
The complaint says Hockenson told authorities his license had been canceled because of prior DWI cases. Court documents later said his driving status was canceled as inimical to public safety.
That charge falls under Minnesota law. The complaint lists the offense under Minnesota Statute 171.24.5.
Possible Penalty
The charge is listed as a gross misdemeanor. The maximum penalty listed in the complaint is 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.
As with all criminal cases, the charge is only an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Prior Court History Listed
The complaint also says a review of Hockenson’s record showed a second-degree DWI conviction in a previous case. It also says he is currently charged in another driving-related case.
