St. Michael Man Injured in Pennington County Collision

Pennington County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A St. Michael man was injured Wednesday, June 5, after two pickup trucks collided in rural southwestern Pennington County.

Zachary James Emslander, 24, suffered a non-life-threatening injury, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report. He was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

The other driver, 31-year-old Brent Michael Lofthus of Grand Forks, N.D., was uninjured.

At the time of the accident, Lofthus was driving a 2017 Chevy Silverado westbound on Center Street West near the intersection with 150th Avenue Southwest in Polk Centre Township. Emslander was driving an eastbound 2020 Chevy Colorado. The pickup trucks collided, and both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The State Patrol indicated that alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.

The State Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 2:35 p.m. on June 5. The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, St. Hilaire Fire Department, Sanford Ambulance, and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources also responded.
