Thief River Falls: Felony Charges Over Registry Info

Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Middle River man is facing new felony charges. Police say he did not update required registry details.

Delwin Guy Johnson, 44, is charged with two felony counts. The counts allege failure to fulfill predatory offender registration duties.

A criminal complaint was filed on February 18 in Pennington County District Court. The case is pending.

What the police say happened

According to the complaint, an officer reviewed Johnson’s registration file on January 20. The file listed a secondary address in Thief River Falls.

Police say Johnson listed the address as the primary office building for Custom Stay. He also listed his job as caretaker for the business.

On January 27, police spoke with a manager at the property. The manager said Johnson had not worked there since November.

The manager also said Johnson lived in the office building while employed. After his job ended, police say he moved on-site.

Police say he moved to another unit on the same property. The complaint says his registry form did not list that change.

Police checked the registration file again, according to the complaint. It showed an updated form signed on January 12.

That update still listed the office building as the secondary address. It also listed the caretaker’s job.

Prosecutors say those details were not correct at the time. They allege Johnson failed to report changes as required.

Another case noted in a court filing

The complaint says Johnson was out of jail under release conditions in another case. That Pennington County case involves multiple counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The filing says the allegations involve multiple juveniles. Johnson has not been convicted in either case.

Charges are accusations and must be proven in court. Court dates and outcomes can change quickly.
