Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) Chris Angus Clark Sr., 44, of rural Mahnomen, faces new charges in district court.
Prosecutors charged Clark with felony DWI. They also charged him with gross misdemeanor driving. Records say his license status was canceled as inimical to public safety.
Traffic stop
Court records say the stop happened just after 3 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2025. Deputies stopped Clark on Becker County Road 34. Records say the vehicle’s third brake light did not light up.
Deputies said Clark showed signs of impairment. Records say a passenger was arrested on a warrant.
Search and evidence
Records say deputies searched the vehicle after the stop. They reported finding a small glass vial. The vial held a white powder, according to records.
Deputies field tested the substance, court records say. The test indicated fentanyl. The packaged weight was listed as 6.86 grams.
Records say deputies obtained a signed search warrant. Clark agreed to provide a blood sample, the file states. Deputies took him to a hospital for the draw.

Court action and sentence
On Jan. 14, District Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Clark. The judge imposed 54 months in state prison at St. Cloud. The prison term was stayed for five years.
The judge also ordered 65 days in jail. Records show Clark received credit for 65 days served. The court fined him $500. The judge also assessed $190 in court fees.
The sentence included strict rules. Clark must not drink alcohol. He must not use nonprescribed drugs. He must complete cognitive skills training.
He must also complete a full assessment. He must follow all treatment steps, including aftercare. The court also ordered Clark into the DWI Court program.
He must follow program rules and team orders. The court placed him on supervised probation for five years.
