Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) — Emergency responders were called to a rollover crash early Monday morning on Highway 59, just south of Winger near the Polk–Mahnomen County line.

Radio traffic indicated the crash was reported around 4:15 a.m. The caller told dispatch she had rolled her vehicle on Highway 59 south of Winger. The location was described as near the county line area between Polk County and Mahnomen County.

According to initial scanner reports, the driver reported seeing blood but was conscious and breathing. Emergency medical services and law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. First responders headed toward the rollover location in the pre-dawn hours on snow and ice-affected roads.

Later radio updates from the scene indicated the crash did not sound life-threatening. Crews continued to assess the driver and check for any additional hazards in the area. No other vehicles were mentioned in early reports.

Highway 59 is a key north–south route in northwest Minnesota. Early morning travel can be especially risky when roads are dark and may be slick from overnight weather. Even a slight drift or patch of ice can send a vehicle off the roadway.

Authorities often remind drivers to slow down, wear seat belts, and stay alert, especially in rural areas. Rollover crashes are common on two-lane highways where shoulders may be soft or snow-covered.

Motorists can check current Minnesota road and travel conditions before heading out. Real-time maps, cameras, and alerts are available on the state’s 511 system at 511mn.org. Additional winter driving tips and safety information are posted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation at dot.state.mn.us.

Further details on the cause of the rollover and the driver’s condition may be released later by responding agencies once reports are completed.
