West Central Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Troopers spent much of Wednesday morning dealing with winter driving problems across west central Minnesota.

Between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. on November 26, 2025, the Minnesota State Patrol reports responding to 12 crashes in the region. Two of those crashes involved non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers also handled 33 other vehicles that spun out or ran off the road into the ditch. Those drivers needed a trooper or tow truck to get back out. Several semis jackknifed during the same time period, adding to delays and lane blockages on key highways.

The State Patrol says changing winter weather and slick roads were major factors. Snow, wind, and falling temperatures can quickly turn wet pavement into ice. Even when traffic is moving at reduced speed, a sudden drift or patch of icy glare can cause drivers to lose control.

Officials are again asking drivers to slow down, increase following distance, and turn on headlights during snow or low visibility. They also remind people to move over for stopped emergency and tow vehicles on the shoulder.

Before heading out, motorists can check current road and travel conditions on Minnesota’s 511 system at 511mn.org. The Minnesota Department of Transportation posts winter driving tips, road closures, and plow camera views at dot.state.mn.us.

Troopers say these numbers are a reminder that the winter season has arrived. Even if a road looks clear, bridges, ramps, and shaded areas can still be icy.
