Otter Tail County: Hwy 10 Crash Injures Two in NY Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, Newton Township, Otter Tail County (trfnews.i234.me) — Two people were injured following a morning crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Centennial Drive in New York Mills. The crash happened at 7:13 a.m. on November 24. The Minnesota State Patrol released the report mid-morning.

According to troopers, a 2015 Ford Fusion was traveling east on Centennial Drive. A 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was eastbound on Highway 10. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Road conditions were dry at the time.

The Ford Fusion was driven by Aidyn Audrey Johannah Baune, 21, of New York Mills. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Perham Hospital for treatment. A passenger, Jasper Tovio Perala, 10, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Perham Hospital. Both wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved.

The semi was driven by John Kenneth Honer, 22, of Dent. He was not injured. According to the report, he was wearing a seat belt. No alcohol involvement was listed.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. First responders assisted with traffic control and medical coordination until the roadway was cleared. No major delays were reported beyond the immediate crash area.

Intersection crashes can occur quickly when vehicles enter at different speeds or misjudge gaps. Troopers encourage drivers to use extra caution at high-speed rural intersections.
