East Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — The East Grand Forks American Legion Club is nearing the end of its run, as leaders move to sell the post building.

A letter dated November 5 from Commander Jim H. told members that the post trustees had voted to sell the facility. He said the decision followed continuing financial problems.
Members later received notice of a special meeting set for November 19. The agenda included the pending sale and the future of the post.
The commander wrote that the sale will close the Legion’s bar, kitchen, and gambling operations. Those areas will remain open only until the transaction is finished.
The notice said leaders had tried other ideas first. It stated that the post could not keep operating with losses that had built up over time.
The building is now listed with Oxford Realty. While the property is on the market, the post is trying to secure a line of credit.
That money would help pay overdue accounts and support limited operations. The borrowing plan will need approval from the membership.
Members will be asked to vote before any credit is taken. The outcome will shape how the post operates while the sale moves ahead.
The closure would end a long chapter for veterans and families in East Grand Forks. The club has hosted meetings, fundraisers, and community events for many years.

Commercial property listings, including community buildings, are available through Oxford Realty, although specific listing details can change at any time.
Post 157 leaders say member input will guide next steps as they close the club and plan future services for veterans.
