Grand Forks, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) A juvenile was arrested after crashing during a police pursuit in Grand Forks on Thursday evening. The incident began around 6:30 p.m. after officers attempted a traffic stop on South Washington Street.
According to Grand Forks Police, the driver refused to stop. Officers continued the pursuit through the south end of the city. A deputy then used a PIT maneuver on 17th Avenue South. The suspect vehicle spun out and struck an electrical pole. Viewer video recorded by a TRF News follower showed the moment officers closed in on the vehicle.
Police say the juvenile driver did not report any injuries. However, the juvenile was transported to Altru Hospital as a precaution. Authorities did not release the age or identity of the driver due to juvenile privacy rules.
The crash caused visible damage to the vehicle and the electrical pole. No other vehicles were hit during the incident. Officers remained on scene to secure the roadway and ensure the area was safe. Emergency crews also checked the stability of the pole following the impact.
Police say the juvenile is facing multiple charges. Those include fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, theft of a motor vehicle, and theft of a debit card. The investigation is active, and police may release further information once the case moves forward in the juvenile system.
This pursuit adds to a series of recent police chases in the region. Grand Forks Police remind drivers that refusing to stop creates major risks to the public, officers, and the fleeing driver.
