GRAND FORKS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A North Dakota State Trooper has confirmed with TRF News that one man was killed in a crash involving a train west of Grand Forks on Saturday night.

The fatal collision happened along West Demers Avenue near Airport Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene late Saturday after reports of a vehicle being struck by a train. A trooper with the North Dakota Highway Patrol confirmed that the male driver died from his injuries.

Details about how the crash occurred remain unclear. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the vehicle struck the side of the train or was hit while crossing the tracks. The crash reportedly happened a few blocks east of the Buffalo Farm, a location familiar to many in the Grand Forks area.

Investigators from the North Dakota Highway Patrol and other local agencies were on the scene for several hours on Saturday night, gathering evidence and documenting the crash. The driver’s name has not yet been released, pending notification to their family.

Traffic in the area was slowed while emergency personnel worked at the scene. As of Sunday morning, no additional information had been provided by the Highway Patrol regarding the cause of the crash or whether weather or visibility were factors.

This is a developing story, and more details will be released once authorities complete their investigation and release an official report.
