Wilkin Co. Semi–Grader Crash Claims Life of Wahpeton Man
WILKIN COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – Authorities have released the names of those involved in a fiery fatal crash between a tanker semi and a road grader southeast of Wolverton.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 40-year-old Nicolas Terfehr of Wahpeton died when his tanker semi collided with a John Deere road grader. The crash happened on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. on County Road 3. Both vehicles were traveling south when they collided, sending them into the ditch. The tanker came to rest on its wheels, while the grader overturned onto its roof.
Investigators say it is unclear if Terfehr was wearing a seatbelt or if the airbag deployed. The driver of the grader, 44-year-old Darin Differding of Hankinson, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Breckenridge Hospital for treatment.
The State Patrol reports the crash remains under investigation. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Wilkin and Clay County Sheriff’s Offices, Rothsay Fire, Barnesville Fire and Ambulance, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
