Fargo, Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — Fargo police are investigating a shooting reported on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Police shared details in a City of Fargo news release.
What the police say happened
Police said an adult man arrived at a local medical facility at 11:03 a.m. He had an apparent gunshot wound.
The man told officers he was leaving a north Fargo residence. He then heard a “pop” and felt he was shot.
Police said he flagged down a passerby for help. The victim was then taken to the hospital.
The victim did not share more details, police said. He also did not name a location.
A witness later contacted police, according to investigators. The witness said the shooting followed an altercation inside a home.
Police said the victim and suspect knew each other. The suspect was described as a Black adult male.
Police said the suspect is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. They also described a muscular build.
Investigators served a search warrant in the 1500 block of 10th Street North. Police said they believe the shooting happened there.

Arrest update
Police later announced an arrest. Investigators said they arrested Odus Maxwell, 50, of Fargo.
Police said the arrest happened at 8:02 p.m. They said Maxwell was taken to the Cass County Jail.
Police said the victim’s injury was not life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.
