Fargo ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A Fargo man is facing multiple felony charges following a violent incident inside a city apartment on August 19.
According to court documents, a 911 dispatcher overheard a man, later identified as Luis M. Mireles, threaten to kill a woman during a call for help. The female caller left the apartment before officers arrived and told police she had allowed Mireles to stay there. She reported he was intoxicated and became violent, throwing her to the floor, holding his arm against her neck, and sexually assaulting her. Officers noted visible injuries to her face.
Police entered the apartment and located Mireles nude inside. He resisted officers and fought with them before being restrained. During the struggle, Mireles allegedly threatened one officer, stating he would make sure the officer’s family was murdered.
As a result of the incident, Mireles has been charged with five felony counts. The charges include attempted gross sexual imposition, felonious restraint, preventing arrest, and two counts of terrorizing. He remains in custody as prosecutors pursue the case in Cass County District Court.
The charges carry significant penalties under North Dakota law. Attempted gross sexual imposition alone can result in a lengthy prison sentence. Authorities say the case highlights the dangers of domestic and sexual violence, as well as the risks officers face when responding to volatile situations.
Additional hearings are scheduled, and officials are expected to release more details as the case progresses. For resources on domestic violence and support services in North Dakota, readers can visit the CAWS North Dakota website.
