Polk County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A 67-year-old woman from Grand Forks was killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash at Highway 2 and County Road 17 near East Grand Forks.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened at 9:00 a.m. on August 7, 2025. A 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Kathy May Wimpfheimer of Grand Forks, was traveling westbound on County Road 17 when it collided with a northbound 2010 Peterbilt semi on Highway 2.
Wimpfheimer was wearing a seat belt, and airbags deployed, but she died at the scene. Authorities say alcohol was not a factor.
The semi driver, 27-year-old Tyler James Shaver of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. He was also wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the incident.
