Grand Forks County ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A Minot man is facing assault charges after allegedly attacking hospital staff and a police officer at Altru Behavioral Health in Grand Forks.
According to court documents, officers responded to the facility on August 5 and spoke with staff, who reported that patient Gilbert Houle had been involved in a confrontation with another patient.
When a nurse attempted to separate the two, Houle allegedly threw a box of crayons at her. As he left the room, he was accused of punching her in the ribs.
A security guard told police that while escorting Houle to his room, the suspect began spitting toward him and another guard, then physically resisted. A taser was drawn but not deployed. The guard reported suffering a scratch to his wrist during the incident.
Houle was taken into custody and booked into the Grand Forks County Jail. He is charged with simple assault.
