Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – Genevieve Redeagle Smith, age 23, is facing felony drug and DWI charges after acting erratically at a Circle K in Bemidji on May 24, 2025, and being found in possession of fentanyl while driving with a revoked license.
Police responded to concerned citizen calls about a possibly impaired driver. Upon contact, officers noted Smith showed clear signs of drug impairment—including exaggerated movements and rapid speech. Smith admitted to using methamphetamine the previous day.
Standardized field sobriety tests confirmed impairment, and officers arrested Smith. A search of her vehicle uncovered a bindle of white powder, believed to be fentanyl, on the passenger floor. A blood test was later conducted and sent to the BCA for further analysis.
Smith has a prior conviction for 5th-degree drug possession. She now faces the following charges:
-
Felony 5th-Degree Drug Possession
-
DWI – Schedule I/II Drug Present
-
Driving After Revocation
