Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — A routine early morning traffic stop in Thief River Falls led to felony drug charges and a jailhouse contraband discovery for 52-year-old Shane Scott Stone.
On May 3, 2025, Officer Craig Williams observed Stone’s vehicle drifting on Highway 59 and initiated a stop. Stone, exhibiting signs of drug impairment including constricted pupils and a burn mark on his finger, failed field sobriety indicators and was arrested for suspected DWI.
During a vehicle search, police discovered a container of marijuana, hypodermic needles, a digital scale, and a meth pipe — all later testing positive for methamphetamine. At the jail, Stone denied carrying contraband, but later dropped a bag containing 19.4 grams of meth, hidden in his clothing. Officers recovered it from the pre-booking area.
Stone now faces three charges:
-
Felony – Third-Degree Controlled Substance Possession (up to 20 years in prison)
-
Gross Misdemeanor – Introducing Contraband into a Correctional Facility
-
Misdemeanor – 4th Degree DWI (Drug Influence)
