Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Tristan Michael Stevens, 30, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, is facing multiple felony charges following a violent confrontation with law enforcement officers on May 21. According to court records, Detroit Lakes police officers responded to a disturbance call at the Lodge on the Lake around 5 p.m. Stevens, identified as the source of the disturbance, was reportedly sitting on the roof of his car and appeared agitated.
As an officer approached, Stevens allegedly threatened him, stating, “Go now before I kill you,” and “I will kill you right now.” Stevens then entered his vehicle despite commands to stop and drove off.
Officers pursued Stevens, who stopped his car, got out, and then re-entered it, ramming it into a police squad car. A Becker County sheriff’s deputy, who had arrived at the scene, reported that Stevens drove directly at him, forcing the deputy to push off the hood to avoid being run over.
Stevens fled the scene, leading officers on a chase that ended near Casey’s convenience store, where law enforcement used their vehicles to stop him. Upon exiting his car, Stevens allegedly fought with officers, biting both a sheriff’s deputy and a police officer, causing bodily harm.
Stevens was tasered and eventually subdued with the assistance of additional deputies. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
An arrest warrant was issued by Becker County District Judge Gretchen D. Thilmony, citing concerns for public safety. As of now, Stevens has not been booked, and a mugshot is unavailable.
