Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Thief River Falls man, Jerry Andrew Redden, age 33, has been charged with two felony counts of domestic assault following a disturbing incident that occurred on May 31, 2025.
According to court documents, Pennington County authorities responded to a possible domestic assault at a residence on Brooks Avenue South just after 11:00 p.m. Officer Wayde Jensen made contact with the victim, identified as M.B., who was visibly distressed and crying.
M.B. alleged that Redden became verbally abusive, calling her a “slut” while they were seated on the couch. She stated that he then ripped a phone charger from the wall, slapped her in the mouth, and used the cord to wrap around her neck, pulling tightly. M.B. reported she couldn’t breathe, feared losing consciousness, and believed she was going to die. She managed to get her fingers under the cord to relieve the pressure. Redden allegedly warned her not to “test him” again.
Officer Jensen documented a visible red line around M.B.’s neck, consistent with her account of strangulation with a cord.
Redden’s criminal history includes multiple violent convictions:
-
Threats of Violence – January 3, 2022 (Case 57-CR-21-404)
-
Domestic Assault (Gross Misdemeanor) – August 15, 2018 (Case 57-CR-18-606)
-
Attempted First-Degree Murder – March 10, 2010 (Case 04-CR-10-813)
-
Second-Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – February 18, 2010 (Case 45-CR-09-468)
Given his violent history, Redden is facing enhanced penalties under Minnesota law for repeat domestic violence offenders.
