GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Elaine Alexis Longtine, a 25-year-old woman from Cavalier, was arrested on Monday, May 13, in connection with an incident involving the smuggling of Suboxone film strips into the Grand Forks County Correctional Center concealed within greeting card envelopes.
Longtine faces charges of Class A felony conspiracy to deliver or possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in a correctional facility, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
In April, law enforcement received a report from GFCCC staff indicating the discovery of small, orange tab-like stickers inside the envelope of a greeting card. These stickers appeared consistent with Suboxone, a medication used for opioid disorder treatment and available in film strip form, which dissolves in the mouth.
An informant revealed that Andrew Harlan Stenerson was orchestrating the delivery of drugs to inmates within his unit. Stenerson was subsequently charged later that month.
Investigations revealed that Longtine, who possessed a prescription for Suboxone, was likely the supplier. Phone call recordings between Longtine and Stenerson implicated them in discussing mailing items and coordinating their delivery.
Longtine appeared for her initial hearing on Tuesday morning, May 14, during which her bond was set at $5,000.
Her preliminary hearing and arraignment are scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 24.
