New Brighton, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — On the evening of Thursday, April 24, 2025, a substantial fire engulfed a series of garages at an apartment complex located at 800 County Road D West in New Brighton. The blaze was reported at approximately 9:47 p.m., prompting a swift response from the New Brighton Department of Public Safety and neighboring fire departments.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames emanating from the north end of a structure comprising 12 double garages, totaling about 4,800 square feet. The intensity of the fire necessitated assistance from multiple agencies, including the St. Anthony Village Fire Department, Lake Johanna Fire Department, Fridley Public Safety, and the Roseville Fire Department.
The fire was contained and extinguished without any reported injuries. Two vehicles sustained direct damage from radiant heat, while an additional eight vehicles were exposed to smoke. Significant fire damage was confined to two garage units; however, heat and smoke affected other parts of the structure through void spaces.
Investigators determined that the fire originated within one of the locked garage units, not being used to store a vehicle. Multiple potential ignition sources were identified, but the exact cause remains undetermined. Authorities have stated that the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
