Otter Tail County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – An 8-year-old child was airlifted to the hospital Friday afternoon following a UTV rollover crash northeast of Fergus Falls.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched at 2:48 p.m. to a rural property at 24041 County Highway 1 for a report of a UTV accident involving two juveniles.

The sheriff’s office says the child who was driving the UTV lost control while attempting to turn across rough terrain, causing the vehicle to flip. The child was pinned underneath the UTV and had to be pulled out by family members before first responders arrived.

Authorities confirmed that the 8-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash. A sibling riding as a passenger, who was belted in, was not injured.

Emergency personnel from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Fergus Falls Police, Fire Department, and Ringdahl Ambulance responded. The injured child received emergency care on scene and was airlifted by Life Link III to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

As of this report, the child’s condition has not been released. The crash remains under investigation by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
