A serious two-vehicle crash occurred on the morning of September 9, 2024, at the intersection of 36th Street NE and 6th Avenue NE, about three miles northwest of Northwood, ND. A 1995 Peterbilt truck, driven by 69-year-old Charles Bachmeier, failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 79-year-old Maurice Forde.
Forde’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch, and he was transported to Northwood Deaconess Hospital with serious injuries. Forde was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Bachmeier was uninjured.
The crash is currently under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
