GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A suspect is in jail after allegedly attacking a man with a hatchet and then firing multiple rounds inside his residence on Oak Street in Grand Forks early Saturday morning.

At 5:32 a.m., Grand Forks police were dispatched to an apartment building on the south end of town for a reported assault. An initial investigation revealed a disturbance between two males escalated, resulting in a 23-year-old male being struck with a hatchet. The victim was transported to Altru Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at the Legrave Apartments. The male suspect and a female witness then fled to their residence at 506 Oak Street. Officers responding to the scene heard several gunshots from inside. Moments later, the suspect was seen firing a handgun multiple times within the residence. At least two rounds penetrated the exterior wall, entering a neighboring house.

Grand Forks SWAT responded, and the suspect, 21-year-old Jayden Lloyd, was taken into custody without further incident. The female witness was unharmed, and no additional injuries were reported. Lloyd faces multiple charges and is being held at the Grand Forks County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no known threat to the public.
