GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Brooke Reed Edwards, a 30-year-old woman from St. Paul, Minnesota, was sentenced on July 30 to 20 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, for drug-related offenses, plus an additional three years for theft. Her sentence comes after pleading guilty to 13 felony charges spanning three separate cases in Grand Forks County.
Edwards and her husband, Tyler Gene Berg, were arrested in April 2022. The couple faced charges for opening fraudulent investment accounts and depositing $9,570 in forged checks. They were also involved in selling fentanyl and possessing significant quantities of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana, fentanyl powder, and various prescription pills. The couple’s residence search uncovered drug paraphernalia and controlled buy funds.
Edwards pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two Class A felonies for methamphetamine and fentanyl possession with intent to deliver. The plea agreement led to the dismissal of three charges. She will be on supervised probation for three years post-release and must pay $4,785 in restitution.
Tyler Gene Berg, who remains in custody, has pleaded not guilty and awaits his final dispositional conference on October 3.
