Wright County Man Thrown From Motorcycle On I-94, Clings To Life | trfnews.i234.me

MONTICELLO TWP (trfnews.i234.me) – A harrowing motorcycle accident left a Minnesota man fighting for his life Saturday evening in Wright County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 44-year-old Nicholas William Opatz of Breckenridge, MN, was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Interstate 94 near mile marker 197 in Monticello Township when he lost control and was thrown from the bike.

Authorities report that the road was dry at the time of the crash. Opatz was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol was not a factor in the incident. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Hospital for emergency care.

Emergency responders included Monticello Fire, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Centracare Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol, and Minnesota DNR.

The crash remains under investigation.
