Grand Forks County<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A judge sentenced teen Mason Allery to 10 years in prison.<\/p>\n

The ruling came Monday, Jan 12, 2026, in Grand Forks County District Court.<\/p>\n

Allery was 16 during the January 2025 shooting.<\/p>\n

He is now 17.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to five counts of attempted murder.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said Allery fired into a car filled with teenagers.<\/p>\n

He said a small change in aim could have killed someone.<\/p>\n

Sandberg said 10 years was not harsh enough.<\/p>\n

Sandberg also warned others about revenge talk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis whole gangster culture needs to be flushed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

She said investigators found texts sent the night before.<\/p>\n

She said Allery wrote about being maced.<\/p>\n

She said he blamed someone and wanted payback.<\/p>\n

She said he talked about bullets and making headlines.<\/p>\n

Allery told the court he regrets the shooting.<\/p>\n

He said he thinks about it every day.<\/p>\n

He asked for a five-year sentence.<\/p>\n

He spoke about a hard childhood.<\/p>\n

He said his parents were often in prison.<\/p>\n

Sandberg rejected the shorter term.<\/p>\n

He said hardship should have stopped the crime.<\/p>\n

He said the victims living was a \u201cbreak\u201d that night.<\/p>\n

Sandberg ordered Allery to earn a high school diploma in prison.<\/p>\n
