Fargo<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Cass County trial set for this week was called off Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. Prosecutors said Boimein Dahn<\/strong>, 33, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.<\/p>\n

The case stems from a reported stabbing at a south Fargo apartment last summer. Fargo police said the victim\u2019s injuries were not life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Trial canceled after plea<\/h2>\n

Dahn\u2019s attorney, Ericka Muller Moran, said he planned to argue self-defense at trial. She said he accepted a plea deal because of other issues outside this case.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said they offered the deal after learning federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a \u201chold\u201d on Dahn. They said the hold allows federal agents to keep him up to 48 hours after his local release date.<\/p>\n

Stabbing call reported in August<\/h2>\n

Fargo officers responded to the 1300 block of 32nd Street South early on Aug. 11, 2025. Police said a man in an apartment reported he had been stabbed.<\/p>\n

Police said the man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Authorities said the victim knew the suspect.<\/p>\n

Officers said the suspect fled into another apartment in the same building. Police said he did not come out after repeated orders.<\/p>\n

SWAT was called to help with the arrest<\/h2>\n

Police said Red River Valley SWAT was called to assist. Officers used a flash-bang device and a tool to breach the door, police said.<\/p>\n

Dahn was arrested after the entry, authorities said. Police said he also had other warrants at the time.<\/p>\n

Those included a warrant for aggravated assault out of Hennepin County, Minnesota, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The sentence includes 180 days<\/h2>\n

Judge Cherie Clark followed a joint recommendation, court officials said. Dahn received a five-year sentence, with all but 180 days suspended.<\/p>\n

He also received credit for 177 days already served, according to the court record.<\/p>\n
