Officials say Daryn Waller<\/strong>, 57, died in the fire on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.<\/p>\n Emergency crews were dispatched at about 10:14 a.m. Friday.<\/p>\n The call reported a structure fire in rural Clay County.<\/p>\n The address was 21148 160th Avenue North, near Ulen.<\/p>\n A Clay County deputy arrived and went inside to look for Waller.<\/p>\n The deputy had to get out as the smoke conditions worsened.<\/p>\n Responders were told Waller could not exit the home.<\/p>\n Firefighters with the Ulen Fire Department later searched the home.<\/p>\n They located Waller in a bedroom, officials said.<\/p>\n He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n Authorities said he died from injuries caused by the fire.<\/p>\n The cause of the fire has not been released.<\/p>\n The case remains under investigation.<\/p>\n Reports say the Minnesota State Fire Marshal is involved.<\/p>\n Local law enforcement is also assisting with the review.<\/p>\n The State Fire Marshal posts fire investigation information at The American Red Cross<\/a> offers home fire safety tips.<\/p>\n The U.S. Fire Administration<\/a> also lists prevention guidance.<\/p>\n Charges are not involved in this case at this time.<\/p>\n Officials have not said what started the fire.<\/p>\n TRF News will update this story when more details are released.<\/p>\n I\u2019m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Ulen (trfnews.i234.me) \u2014 Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal house fire near Ulen.
