New York Mills (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A 3-year-old boy died after a dog attack near New York Mills, Minnesota. Authorities say the boy\u2019s grandmother was also hurt.<\/p>\n

What the sheriff\u2019s office reported<\/h2>\n

The Otter Tail County Sheriff\u2019s Office said the call came in at about 1 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2026. Dispatch received a 911 call from a 51-year-old woman, officials said.<\/p>\n

The woman reported she was driving herself and her grandson to the Perham Health emergency room<\/a>. Officials said both had serious dog bite injuries.<\/p>\n

Deputies met them at the emergency room, according to the sheriff\u2019s office. Investigators later learned the attack happened at a home west of New York Mills.<\/p>\n

Authorities say the child climbed into an outdoor enclosed area. The dog was being kept in that area.<\/p>\n

The dog attacked the child, the sheriff\u2019s office said. The dog was described as an adult American bulldog.<\/p>\n

Officials said the grandmother was injured while stopping the attack. The child later died from his injuries, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Officials said the grandmother was later taken to a hospital in Fargo. Her condition was not released in the sheriff\u2019s summary.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said the dog was destroyed. Officials also said there are no ongoing safety concerns.<\/p>\n
