SPIRIT LAKE NATION, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A juvenile suspect is in custody after a homicide on the Spirit Lake Reservation, according to the Spirit Lake Tribal Council.<\/p>\n

The council identified the victim as Jesse Clark Davis<\/strong>. Family and community members knew him as JC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Spirit Lake Tribal Council said the homicide occurred on Sunday, January 11, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Agencies investigating<\/h2>\n

The council said the Fort Totten Bureau of Indian Affairs Police<\/strong> is leading the local response.<\/p>\n

The council said the FBI<\/strong> is also on scene and investigating.<\/p>\n

Spirit Lake Nation public relations specialist Vicki Alberts<\/strong> provided the update to the media.<\/p>\n

Juvenile suspect in custody<\/h2>\n

The Spirit Lake Tribal Council said a suspect was apprehended and is in custody.<\/p>\n

The suspect is described as a juvenile male<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Officials said the suspect\u2019s name will not be released due to juvenile protections.<\/p>\n

Even with an arrest, the investigation remains active, the council said.<\/p>\n

Community message<\/h2>\n

Officials said they believe this incident was isolated.<\/p>\n

They said there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.<\/p>\n

Chairwoman Lonna Jackson-Street<\/strong> offered condolences to the Davis family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe extend our deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
