Minneapolis (trfnews.i234.me)<\/strong> Quality Learning Center, a day care in Minneapolis, has closed, according to state records from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. The center closed its doors on Tuesday, though the reason behind its closure remains unclear at this time.<\/p>\n

State Inspections<\/h2>\n

The closure comes after a right-wing YouTuber, Nick Shirley<\/a>, featured the center in a video last month, accusing several day care centers in Minnesota of fraud. Shirley\u2019s video suggested that these centers were receiving public funds but not providing the services they were paid for. Quality Learning Center was one of the day cares Shirley highlighted.<\/p>\n

Minnesota’s Department of Human Services conducted a review of Quality Learning Center in June, where several operational violations were noted. However, the review found no evidence of fraud at the center. Despite these violations, the center maintained its active status until its recent closure.<\/p>\n

Federal Investigation and Charges<\/h2>\n

The video\u2019s release came amid a broader investigation into alleged fraud in Minnesota’s social services programs. Federal prosecutors have charged dozens of individuals in connection with fraudulent activities involving meals for needy children, therapy for children with autism, and housing assistance for seniors.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration has since sent 2,000 Department of Homeland Security agents to the Twin Cities to crack down on these fraud investigations. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized the operation, calling it a “show” for the cameras that was not coordinated with the state.<\/p>\n

Funding Freeze<\/h2>\n

In response to the fraud investigations, President Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would freeze federal child care funding for Minnesota. The department also plans to halt billions more in social services funding for Minnesota and four other states governed by Democrats.<\/p>\n

Walz, who recently ended his reelection campaign, condemned the move, accusing the Trump administration of using fraud as an excuse to attack Minnesota. \u201cWe\u2019re under assault like no other time in our state\u2019s history,\u201d Walz said, adding that the federal government didn\u2019t care about the well-being of Minnesotans.<\/p>\n
