Daniel James Ringstrom, 34, of Pillager<\/strong>, is charged with felony threats of violence following an October 5, 2026, confrontation.<\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint filed in Cass County District Court, the dispute involved employees of Anderson Brothers Construction working along County Road 36.<\/p>\n

Dispute Begins Over Construction Vehicles<\/h2>\n

The incident began when Ringstrom contacted Cass County dispatch to report a confrontation with a construction employee.<\/p>\n

Ringstrom told authorities that an employee had threatened to beat him up after he complained about company vehicles near his driveway.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Ringstrom believed the parked vehicles were damaging his property.<\/p>\n

He reportedly wanted criminal charges filed against the employee involved in the disagreement.<\/p>\n

However, investigators allege Ringstrom also made statements threatening to shoot workers if they returned to his property.<\/p>\n

Man Allegedly Threatens to Shoot Workers<\/h2>\n

During a telephone conversation with a deputy, Ringstrom reportedly repeated his threats against the construction employees.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, Ringstrom said he felt threatened by the workers and believed he could legally defend himself.<\/p>\n

He reportedly claimed his concealed carry training supported using a firearm if he felt endangered.<\/p>\n

The deputy advised Ringstrom that his understanding of the law was incorrect under the circumstances described.<\/p>\n

Ringstrom allegedly continued arguing and stated that he had firearms inside his home.<\/p>\n

He also reportedly threatened to shoot the workers if they entered his house.<\/p>\n

Construction Employee Describes Confrontation<\/h2>\n

Investigators contacted an Anderson Brothers Construction employee who had been involved in the original disagreement.<\/p>\n

The worker said he was performing roadwork when Ringstrom approached his truck and began yelling about parked vehicles.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, the employee attempted to resolve the dispute by walking toward the vehicles with Ringstrom.<\/p>\n

However, Ringstrom allegedly became increasingly upset, used profanity, and confronted the worker at close range.<\/p>\n

The employee acknowledged challenging Ringstrom to a physical confrontation after Ringstrom moved toward him.<\/p>\n

Ringstrom eventually walked away while continuing to exchange words with the employee.<\/p>\n

Company Receives Additional Alleged Threat<\/h2>\n

Investigators also interviewed the construction company’s foreman.<\/p>\n

The foreman said he offered to move the vehicles and address any damage Ringstrom believed had occurred.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, Ringstrom continued making angry remarks toward the foreman.<\/p>\n

Shortly afterward, the company’s human resources department contacted the foreman about another reported threat.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges Ringstrom had called the company’s main office and said a worker was fortunate he did not have his rifle.<\/p>\n

Ringstrom allegedly indicated he otherwise would have shot the employee.<\/p>\n

The complaint does not report that Ringstrom displayed or fired a firearm during the confrontation.<\/p>\n

Felony Threats of Violence Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Ringstrom with one felony count of threats of violence under Minnesota Statute 609.713, subdivision 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge alleges that Ringstrom threatened to commit a violent crime while recklessly disregarding the risk of causing terror.<\/p>\n

A conviction carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
