CASS LAKE, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2013 A Bemidji woman faces a gross misdemeanor assault charge following a violent confrontation at a Cass Lake bar.<\/p>\n

The victim reported being punched at least 10 times and suffering a fractured nose and concussion.<\/p>\n

Alayzha Ranae Skinaway, 21, of Bemidji<\/strong>, is charged with fifth-degree assault following the July 10, 2026, incident.<\/p>\n

The alleged attack occurred at Log Jammers in Cass Lake, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cass County District Court.<\/p>\n

Deputies Respond to Late-Night Bar Fight<\/h2>\n

According to court documents, Cass County deputies responded to Log Jammers at approximately 10:58 p.m.<\/p>\n

Bar employees had contacted authorities after reporting that a woman was attacked during a disturbance at the establishment.<\/p>\n

When deputies arrived, they found the victim crying with blood on her face and clothing.<\/p>\n

The victim identified Skinaway and other individuals as those involved in the alleged attack.<\/p>\n

Emergency medical personnel transported the injured woman by ambulance to Sanford in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Victim Reports Being Punched at Least 10 Times<\/h2>\n

During a follow-up interview, the victim provided investigators with additional details about the confrontation.<\/p>\n

She reported that two men had started fighting shortly before Skinaway allegedly attacked her.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Skinaway punched the victim in the face and forced her to the ground.<\/p>\n

The victim reported being struck in the face at least 10 times during the incident.<\/p>\n

She also told investigators that she suffered a fractured nose and a concussion.<\/p>\n

The complaint does not include independent medical findings confirming those reported injuries.<\/p>\n

Cellphone Video Allegedly Captures Attack<\/h2>\n

Investigators obtained cellphone video footage of the confrontation.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, the recording showed Skinaway positioned on top of the victim while striking her on the ground.<\/p>\n

The video became part of the evidence described in the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

The complaint does not identify the other individuals allegedly involved in the disturbance.<\/p>\n

Previous Conviction Increases Charge Severity<\/h2>\n

Court records cited in the complaint show Skinaway had a previous domestic assault conviction dated June 5, 2025.<\/p>\n

That conviction was recorded in Beltrami County court file 04-CR-25-127.<\/p>\n

Under Minnesota law, a qualifying prior domestic violence-related conviction can increase the severity of a subsequent assault charge.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors charged Skinaway with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree assault under Minnesota Statute 609.224, subdivision 2(b)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The charge carries a maximum possible sentence of 364 days in jail, a $3,000 fine, or both.<\/p>\n

Cass County Court Case<\/h2>\n

The case is filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 11-CR-26-1431<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The criminal complaint lists a summons for Skinaway.<\/p>\n

The current allegations have not been proven in court. Skinaway is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.<\/p>\n
