MCKINLEY TOWNSHIP, MN<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2013 A 64-year-old New Brighton man was injured Thursday after his SUV lost control and struck a stopped semi-truck in Cass County.<\/p>\n

The crash happened November 5, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 64 and Highway 87.<\/p>\n

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford Explorer was attempting a turn when the collision occurred.<\/p>\n

Ford Explorer Loses Control During Turn<\/h2>\n

The State Patrol reported that a 2013 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Highway 64 toward Highway 87.<\/p>\n

The driver attempted to turn southbound to remain on Highway 64.<\/p>\n

During the turn, the Explorer lost control and struck a semi-truck stopped at the intersection.<\/p>\n

The semi was facing northbound on Highway 64 when the collision occurred.<\/p>\n

Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n

New Brighton Driver Suffers Injuries<\/h2>\n

The Explorer driver was identified as George Erroll McKinnon, 64, of New Brighton, Minnesota<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the State Patrol, McKinnon suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids<\/strong> for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Investigators reported that McKinnon was not wearing a seat belt during the collision.<\/p>\n

The Ford Explorer’s airbags deployed during the crash.<\/p>\n

The semi-truck was a 2025 Volvo VNR driven by Floyd Allen Keller, 49, of Bemidji, Minnesota<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Keller was stopped at the intersection when the Explorer struck his vehicle.<\/p>\n

According to the State Patrol, Keller was not injured.<\/p>\n

He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n

The semi’s airbags did not deploy, and no medical transport was reported for Keller.<\/p>\n

Multiple Emergency Agencies Respond<\/h2>\n

Several law enforcement and emergency response agencies assisted at the crash scene.<\/p>\n

Responding agencies included the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

North EMS, Nevis EMS, and the Nevis Fire Department also assisted.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol’s Brainerd district handled the crash investigation.<\/p>\n

Alcohol Not Suspected in Collision<\/h2>\n

According to the State Patrol, alcohol was not suspected as a factor for either driver.<\/p>\n
