serious DWI charges after a traffic stop near Highway 59.

Kyle Joseph Stillday, 50, of Red Lake, was arrested October 26, 2026, at approximately 9:01 p.m.

According to the criminal complaint, Stillday registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.21 during an evidentiary breath test.

Authorities also discovered he had a canceled driver’s license and an outstanding Beltrami County warrant.

Sheriff’s Deputy Stops Vehicle Near Highway 59

The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 59 and 150th Street Northeast.

A sheriff’s deputy conducted the traffic stop and approached Stillday’s vehicle.

According to court documents, the deputy noticed several indicators suggesting Stillday might be impaired by alcohol.

The available complaint summary did not specify the original reason for the stop.

Driver Allegedly Said He Would Fail Sobriety Tests

During the investigation, the deputy asked Stillday whether he would participate in field sobriety testing.

According to the complaint, Stillday responded that he would not pass the tests.

Despite that statement, Stillday agreed to complete the roadside sobriety exercises.

The deputy reported that Stillday failed the tests.

A preliminary breath test then produced a blood alcohol concentration of 0.26.

That reading was more than three times Minnesota’s standard legal driving limit of 0.08.

<figure roadside investigation, authorities administered an evidentiary DataMaster breath test.

According to the complaint, the second test returned a result of 0.21 BAC.

That result was more than two and a half times the standard legal limit.

Although the second result was lower, it remained substantially above Minnesota’s legal threshold.

Previous DWI Convictions and Canceled License

Investigators also reviewed Stillday’s driving history.

The criminal complaint indicated he had several previous DWI convictions, including one within the preceding 10 years.

Authorities also determined his driver’s license had been canceled as inimical to public safety.

This classification means his driving privileges had been canceled because he was considered a public safety risk under Minnesota law.

The prior impaired-driving incident and elevated alcohol concentration are relevant to the alleged aggravating factors.

Second-Degree DWI and Additional Charges

Stillday faces the following charges:

Second-Degree privileges were canceled.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Beltrami County.

The available report did not identify the underlying offense connected to that warrant.

Under Minnesota Statute 169A.25, second-degree DWI is classified as a gross misdemeanor.

Driving after cancellation under the public safety provision can also constitute a gross misdemeanor under Minnesota Statute 171.24.

The charges remain allegations. Stillday is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

I’m Adrian Cole reporting for TRF News.

Kyle Joseph Stillday, 50, of Red Lake faces second-degree DWI and driving after cancellation charges following a Highway 59 traffic stop on October 26.

[12
883,31179,777,1274
29457
29512
29493

post-72028","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-crime","tag-dwi","tag-kyle-joseph-stillday","tag-pennington-county","tag-red-lake
["GET
