MANKATO, MINNESOTA<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 An 80-year-old North Mankato man was injured Tuesday afternoon when two cars collided along Highway 14.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol reports the crash happened around 3:50 p.m. on November 3, 2026.<\/p>\n

The collision occurred on westbound Highway 14 near Riverfront Drive in Blue Earth County.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles were traveling through a construction warning area when the accident happened.<\/p>\n

Five people were involved, but only one reported injuries.<\/p>\n

Two Vehicles Collide Near Construction Area<\/h2>\n

According to the State Patrol, a 2017 Subaru WRX and a 2013 Dodge Dart were traveling westbound.<\/p>\n

The vehicles were in an advance warning area for road construction when they collided.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported dry road conditions at the time.<\/p>\n

The Subaru’s airbags deployed during the collision.<\/p>\n

However, the Dodge’s airbags did not deploy.<\/p>\n

Investigators have not released additional details explaining how the collision occurred.<\/p>\n

The State Patrol has not identified which driver, if either, was responsible.<\/p>\n

80-Year-Old North Mankato Driver Injured<\/h2>\n

The Dodge Dart was driven by James Anthony Schorn, 80, of North Mankato.<\/p>\n

Schorn suffered injuries classified as non-life-threatening by the Minnesota State Patrol.<\/p>\n

He was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato for medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Authorities confirmed Schorn was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n

Jackson Driver and Passenger Unhurt<\/h2>\n

The Subaru WRX was driven by Haley Ann Nichols, 19, of Jackson, Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Her passenger was Dohnovin Lynn Rice, 24, also of Jackson.<\/p>\n

Neither person reported injuries following the collision.<\/p>\n

Both occupants were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred.<\/p>\n

Despite airbag deployment inside the Subaru, neither required hospital treatment.<\/p>\n

Emergency Crews Respond to Highway 14<\/h2>\n

The Mankato Police Department assisted the Minnesota State Patrol following the collision.<\/p>\n

Mayo Clinic Health System ambulance personnel also responded to the crash.<\/p>\n

Emergency workers assisted those involved and arranged transportation for the injured driver.<\/p>\n

Alcohol was not suspected for any of the five people involved.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported no fatalities.<\/p>\n
