What the police say happened<\/h2>\n

According to a statement of probable cause, Bemidji police responded at about 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 4. Officers were sent to the 2500 block of Itasca Loop Northwest. The call reported a man trying to get into a residence.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they reported finding a man slumped in a snowbank. Police identified him as Tyler Lassman. Officers said he appeared highly intoxicated. They also said he fell over in the snow. Lassman told officers he was cold.<\/p>\n

Detention and reported struggle<\/h2>\n

While officers spoke with Lassman, another officer reported hearing a threat. The complaint quotes Lassman as saying, \u201cI\u2019m going to fight this b—-.\u201d Police say Lassman then moved toward an officer.<\/p>\n

Officers moved in to detain him, the complaint says. Police say Lassman tensed up and resisted. Officers reported a struggle that lasted about four minutes. Police said they then secured him in handcuffs.<\/p>\n

Charges filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors have charged Lassman with felony burglary. He is also charged with gross misdemeanor obstructing legal process. A misdemeanor damage to property charge was also filed.<\/p>\n
