Washington, D.C. (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 President Donald Trump is widening his warnings after U.S. forces seized Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.<\/p>\n

Maduro seized and flown to New York<\/h2>\n

The seizure followed a U.S. military operation in Caracas on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.<\/p>\n

Maduro was flown to New York for court proceedings.<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty in Manhattan federal court on Monday.<\/p>\n

Maduro said he was kidnapped and still sees himself as president.<\/p>\n

His wife, Cilia Flores, also pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

Venezuela\u2019s vice president, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, was sworn in as interim president.<\/p>\n

The Pentagon release<\/a> described the mission as a joint military extraction.<\/p>\n

Trump points at Greenland and Colombia<\/h2>\n

Trump praised the mission and hinted at more strikes.<\/p>\n

He also renewed talk of U.S. control of Greenland.<\/p>\n

Greenland is a self-governing territory within Denmark.<\/p>\n

Trump has said the U.S. needs Greenland for security reasons.<\/p>\n

Danish and Greenland leaders rejected any takeover talk.<\/p>\n

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned it could rupture NATO<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Greenland\u2019s leader, Jens Frederik Nielsen, urged calm and unity.<\/p>\n

Trump also threatened Colombia with military action.<\/p>\n

He linked the threat to cocaine flows and cartel power.<\/p>\n

Colombian President Gustavo Petro called the threat illegitimate.<\/p>\n

Trump said the U.S. will not tolerate what he called a failed drug fight.<\/p>\n

Rubio warns Cuba<\/h2>\n

Attention then shifted to Cuba.<\/p>\n

Trump said Cuba is a \u201cfailing nation\u201d and could become a U.S. focus.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed that message on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Rubio said Cuba\u2019s communist government is in serious trouble.<\/p>\n

He said Havana should worry after Maduro\u2019s capture.<\/p>\n

The State Department<\/a> has not announced any new action against Cuba.<\/p>\n

Global backlash grows<\/h2>\n

Global reaction has been swift.<\/p>\n

U.N. human rights officials said the Venezuela action broke international law.<\/p>\n

They warned it sets a dangerous example for stronger nations.<\/p>\n

The U.N. cited the U.N. Charter<\/a> ban on force against another state.<\/p>\n

Some U.S. allies also raised concerns in public.<\/p>\n

U.S. officials defended the mission as lawful.<\/p>\n

They said it targeted alleged narco-terrorists, not Venezuelans.<\/p>\n

Trump also floated U.S. oil help for Venezuela\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n

With threats spreading, leaders abroad asked a pointed question.<\/p>\n

After Venezuela, many now ask, \u201cWho\u2019s next?\u201d<\/p>\n
