The Grand Forks County Sheriff\u2019s Office says deputies went to an apartment in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue North.
\nA woman had called 911 and claimed she was holding a man hostage inside the unit.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrived to help the Grand Forks Police.
\nAfter finding the correct apartment, officers believed the man inside was in immediate danger.
\nThey chose to enter quickly to protect him.<\/p>\n

Once inside, officers saw both the male hostage and the woman suspected of making the call.
\nInvestigators say the deputy opened fire after seeing a threat from the woman.
\nThe deputy shot multiple times.<\/p>\n

The man who was described as a hostage was not injured.
\nThe woman was hit several times.
\nOfficers gave aid and called an ambulance.
\nShe was taken to Altru Hospital<\/a> for treatment.<\/p>\n

No officers were hurt during the incident.
