MINNEAPOLIS<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A federal judge has approved a request for about $5.2 million in restitution from Aimee Bock.<\/p>\n

Bock founded the nonprofit Feeding Our Future.<\/p>\n

The amount would be part of her sentence.<\/p>\n

The judge signs a forfeiture order<\/h2>\n

Judge Nancy Brasel also signed a preliminary forfeiture order.<\/p>\n

The forfeiture amount is $5,241,522.79.<\/p>\n

Forfeiture means the government can take property tied to a crime.<\/p>\n

The order becomes final at sentencing.<\/p>\n

What prosecutors say can be seized<\/h2>\n

The list includes more than $3.5 million from a Feeding Our Future account.<\/p>\n

It also includes money from two accounts in Bock\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

It includes a 2013 Porsche Panamera.<\/p>\n

It also includes electronics, clothing, and jewelry.<\/p>\n

Background on the case<\/h2>\n

A jury convicted Bock in March.<\/p>\n

Salim Said was convicted in the same trial.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said the network stole nearly $250 million.<\/p>\n

They said the money was meant to feed children.<\/p>\n

Federal records say the sites claimed about 91 million meals.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said the claims were false.<\/p>\n

How the program worked<\/h2>\n

Feeding Our Future acted as a sponsor for federal meal programs.<\/p>\n

Sites reported meal counts to the sponsor.<\/p>\n

The sponsor sent claims to the state.<\/p>\n

The state then asked the federal government for repayment.<\/p>\n

In Minnesota, that work ran through the Minnesota Department of Education.<\/p>\n

What happens next<\/h2>\n

A sentencing date has not been set.<\/p>\n

KSTP reported prosecutors also linked Bock to kickbacks.<\/p>\n

The same report said she sent money to Empress Watson.<\/p>\n

Watson was described as her boyfriend at the time.<\/p>\n

Restitution is meant to repay victims.<\/p>\n
