The case began on August 11, 1995, when turtle hunters found Buck’s body near a creek.<\/p>\n
Her body was discovered approximately five miles east of Waterloo in rural Black Hawk County.<\/p>\n
Deputies found Buck along a creek bank near a bridge.<\/p>\n
An autopsy by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Buck died from a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
Her death was ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n
A witness reportedly saw a man resembling Grant and another man force Buck into a vehicle.<\/p>\n
The witness said the men took Buck from her Waterloo home before driving away.<\/p>\n

According to the criminal complaint, Grant allegedly believed Buck had stolen from him.<\/p>\n

Grant was interviewed several times during the years following Buck’s death.<\/p>\n
During a March 2025 interview, Grant told investigators he had given Buck and several men a ride.<\/p>\n
Grant claimed Buck appeared distressed when he encountered the group.<\/p>\n
He said he drove them to another location in Waterloo and dropped them off.<\/p>\n
Grant also claimed one man gave him a bag of marijuana as payment.<\/p>\n
He denied involvement in Buck’s death.<\/p>\n
Arrest Follows Decades of Investigation<\/h2>\n
Investigators continued working the case for more than 30 years while reviewing leads and gathering information.<\/p>\n
