The bus driver attempted to avoid the collision by steering right, but the vehicles collided head-on.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, there were no students on the bus at the time. The driver was on the way to the first pickup stop. The bus driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The driver of the Monte Carlo was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Monte Carlo was arrested for DUI involving drugs, with an additional charge of reckless driving recommended to the State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>This crash is a reminder of the dangers impaired drivers pose to everyone on the road at any time of day or night, including school buses transporting our children. Thankfully, no students were on board when this crash occurred.
