{"id":5847,"date":"2026-01-03T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=5847"},"modified":"2026-01-02T08:03:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T14:03:34","slug":"moorhead-knife-carjacking-at-cash-wise-6-felonies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/moorhead-knife-carjacking-at-cash-wise-6-felonies\/","title":{"rendered":"Moorhead: Knife Carjacking at Cash Wise, 6 Felonies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Moorhead<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trfnews.i234.me<\/a>) \u2014 A Moorhead man is facing six felony charges after police say he threatened a man with a knife and stole a vehicle from a Moorhead parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sean Patrick McMahan<\/strong>, of Moorhead, is charged with first-degree carjacking and additional felonies, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<h2>Carjacking Allegation at Cash Wise<\/h2>\n<p>According to the statement of probable cause, Moorhead police were dispatched on December 28 just after 10 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The call sent officers to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cashwise.com\/stores\/store\/3632\/cash-wise-foods-moorhead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cash Wise Foods<\/a> store on Highway 10 East in Moorhead.<\/p>\n<p>Police spoke with the victim in the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>The victim told officers he was waiting in his vehicle to pick up his mother from work.<\/p>\n<p>He reported that a man walked up to the driver\u2019s side door.<\/p>\n<p>The victim described the suspect as a white male in his 30s with a medium build.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspect wore a black jacket.<\/p>\n<p>The victim told police the suspect grabbed the door handle with one hand.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspect then pulled a fixed-blade knife from inside his jacket.<\/p>\n<p>The victim reported that the knife was pointed at him during the confrontation.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the suspect opened the door and ordered the victim out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The victim said he feared for his safety and complied.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the suspect got into the driver\u2019s seat and drove toward Highway 10.<\/p>\n<h2>Pursuit, Crash, and Arrest<\/h2>\n<p>Moorhead police located the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the driver fled.<\/p>\n<p>The pursuit ended after a crash on 30th Avenue South, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Officers then arrested McMahan, the complaint states.<\/p>\n<p>Police report they found a knife and suspected meth during the arrest.<\/p>\n<h2>Six Felony Charges Listed<\/h2>\n<p>Court documents list six felony charges, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First-degree carjacking<\/li>\n<li>Assault with a dangerous weapon<\/li>\n<li>Theft of a motor vehicle<\/li>\n<li>Fleeing a peace officer<\/li>\n<li>Possession of methamphetamine<\/li>\n<li>Criminal damage to property<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Release Status Noted<\/h2>\n<p>Court documents also state McMahan was on conditions of release in Clay County.<\/p>\n<p>The filing references three separate criminal cases.<\/p>\n<p>Those cases include alleged arson, fleeing a peace officer, and criminal property damage.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota\u2019s carjacking statute can be found here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/cite\/609.247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minn.
