Jackson County: 80-Year-Old Killed in Hwy 71 Crash<\/h2>\n

JACKSON COUNTY, Minn.<\/strong> (trfnews.i234.me)<\/a> \u2014 An 80-year-old Mountain Lake man died Sunday evening after a collision involving a semi on Highway 71.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota State Patrol identified the man as Glen Edward Letellier.<\/p>\n

The crash happened at about 6:53 p.m. on October 5 in Christiania Township.<\/p>\n

The collision occurred near mile marker 19 on Highway 71.<\/p>\n

Ford and Semi Collide at Intersection<\/h2>\n

According to the State Patrol, a semi was traveling north on Highway 71.<\/p>\n

A Ford driven by Letellier was turning south onto Highway 71.<\/p>\n

The two vehicles collided in the intersection, according to the crash report.<\/p>\n

Letellier suffered fatal injuries.<\/p>\n

He was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n

The Ford’s airbag deployed, according to the State Patrol.<\/p>\n

Alcohol was not suspected in connection with Letellier.<\/p>\n

Semi Driver Not Injured<\/h2>\n

The second vehicle was a 2015 International semi.<\/p>\n

It was driven by Colin Lamar Hooley, 24, of Plymouth, Indiana.<\/p>\n

Hooley was not injured in the collision.<\/p>\n

The State Patrol report lists him as not wearing a seat belt.<\/p>\n

Alcohol was not suspected in connection with the semi driver.<\/p>\n

Road conditions were listed as dry at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n

State Patrol Report Shows Vehicle Discrepancy<\/h2>\n

The State Patrol’s narrative identifies Letellier’s vehicle as a Ford Taurus.<\/p>\n

However, the vehicle section of the report lists a 2015 Ford Fusion.<\/p>\n

TRF News is noting both descriptions because they appear in the official crash information.<\/p>\n

The exact Ford model does not change the reported circumstances of the fatal collision.<\/p>\n

Multiple Agencies Respond<\/h2>\n

Several emergency and law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.<\/p>\n

They included fire and ambulance crews from the Windom and Jackson areas.<\/p>\n

County sheriff’s offices and local police departments also responded.<\/p>\n

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted as well.<\/p>\n

The State Patrol listed the information as complete when the report was last updated.<\/p>\n
