Bemidji Woman Faces DWI Charge With Grandson in Car<\/h2>\n

Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 Anita Rose Dunn faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge following a September traffic stop in Bemidji.<\/p>\n

Dunn, 42, is charged in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District Court in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges Dunn drove while her body contained a Schedule I or II controlled substance.<\/p>\n

The charge excludes cannabis and hemp products covered by Minnesota law.<\/p>\n

The allegations have not been proven in court.<\/p>\n

Traffic Stop Leads to DWI Investigation<\/h2>\n

Authorities stopped Dunn’s vehicle on September 5, 2026, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

The stop occurred near Little Caesars in Beltrami County.<\/p>\n

Police reported that Dunn did not have a driver’s license or identification with her.<\/p>\n

An officer also reported that Dunn had glassy eyes and spoke quickly.<\/p>\n

The complaint says Dunn appeared rigid during the initial conversation.<\/p>\n

Several passengers were inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

One passenger was Dunn’s four-year-old grandson, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Police asked Dunn to step outside because of suspected impairment and her license status.<\/p>\n

The complaint states she paced and later fidgeted with her hands.<\/p>\n

Authorities also reported eyelid tremors during an impairment check.<\/p>\n

Complaint Cites Methamphetamine Admission<\/h2>\n

Dunn allegedly admitted smoking methamphetamine within 72 hours before the traffic stop.<\/p>\n

Police then conducted field sobriety tests.<\/p>\n

The complaint reports several alleged problems during those tests.<\/p>\n

Those included missed heel-to-toe steps and raising her arms for balance.<\/p>\n

Authorities also said Dunn incorrectly estimated a 30-second period.<\/p>\n

Dunn was arrested and taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n

A judge approved a warrant for a blood sample, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Dunn provided the sample before she was taken to jail.<\/p>\n

Gross Misdemeanor Charge Filed<\/h2>\n

Prosecutors charged Dunn under Minnesota Statute 169A.20<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The complaint alleges that two or more aggravating factors were present.<\/p>\n

It cites a prior DWI conviction from 2018.<\/p>\n

The complaint also notes the four-year-old child was inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The charge carries up to 364 days in jail.<\/p>\n
