Bemidji (trfnews.i234.me<\/a>)<\/strong> \u2014 A Bemidji man faces a felony domestic assault charge after a September 24 incident.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Colter Christian Luzius, 36, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation.<\/p>\n

The charge was filed in Beltrami County District Court under case number 04-CR-26-2371.<\/p>\n

The felony carries up to three years in prison. It also carries a possible $5,000 fine.<\/p>\n

Police Respond To Reported Stabbing<\/h2>\n

Bemidji police responded around 9:31 a.m. to a home on Itasca Loop NW.<\/p>\n

Officers were initially called about a possible stabbing, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

Luzius was found outside with a stab wound to his abdomen.<\/p>\n

The complaint says he had blood on his torso and clothing.<\/p>\n

Luzius initially told police he had fallen on something, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Police later entered the residence and reported finding blood droplets and signs of a struggle.<\/p>\n

Woman Reports Being Strangled<\/h2>\n

A woman identified as B.S. told investigators that Luzius entered her residence without permission.<\/p>\n

She alleged that Luzius assaulted her and struck her with a vacuum.<\/p>\n

B.S. also alleged that Luzius strangled her in the kitchen.<\/p>\n

She told police she began losing consciousness during the alleged assault.<\/p>\n

B.S. said she grabbed a knife from a dish rack and stabbed Luzius in self-defense.<\/p>\n

Police documented injuries to her neck, arm, elbow, and knee, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

A witness identified as V.M. also reported seeing Luzius assault and choke B.S.<\/p>\n

The witness told police he moved an infant child away from the confrontation for safety.<\/p>\n

Investigators recovered a kitchen knife and collected bloody clothing as evidence.<\/p>\n

Luzius Denies Strangling Woman<\/h2>\n

Police arrested Luzius on suspicion of felony domestic assault by strangulation.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center because of his abdominal injury.<\/p>\n

The complaint says doctors determined he needed emergency surgery.<\/p>\n

While hospitalized, Luzius denied strangling B.S.<\/p>\n

He told police he only held her by the shoulders.<\/p>\n

Luzius also alleged that B.S. stabbed him from behind.<\/p>\n

Court Case Continues<\/h2>\n

The complaint lists several pending theft cases involving Luzius.<\/p>\n

It also lists previous convictions involving assault, theft, protection-order violations, DWI, drug possession, and other offenses.<\/p>\n

Pending cases are allegations and have not resulted in convictions.<\/p>\n

Luzius is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n
