Roommate Reports Attack<\/h2>\n
Police responded around 10:17 p.m. after receiving a report of an injured man.<\/p>\n
The man said his roommate had attacked him, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
He reportedly had bleeding injuries to his head and possibly his chest.<\/p>\n
The complaint identifies Gonzalez as the roommate involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
The two men had lived together for about two months, court records state.<\/p>\n
The alleged victim said Gonzalez had returned home earlier that day.<\/p>\n
He told police Gonzalez had been drinking alcohol throughout the day.<\/p>\n
The man reportedly stayed in his bedroom to avoid contact with Gonzalez.<\/p>\n
Complaint Alleges Knife Threat<\/h2>\n
The complaint says Gonzalez later began banging on the bedroom door.<\/p>\n
When the door opened, Gonzalez allegedly entered the room and began yelling.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors say Gonzalez then kicked a door.<\/p>\n
The door allegedly struck the man in the head and caused bleeding.<\/p>\n
The complaint says Gonzalez then displayed a six-inch serrated knife.<\/p>\n
He allegedly threatened to kill the man while holding the knife.<\/p>\n
The man left the apartment and Gonzalez allegedly followed him outside.<\/p>\n
Court records say Gonzalez still had the knife during the pursuit.<\/p>\n
The man eventually escaped and stopped another person for help.<\/p>\n
Police later located Gonzalez inside the apartment.<\/p>\n
A SWAT team assisted authorities with taking him into custody.<\/p>\n
Three Charges Filed<\/h2>\n
Gonzalez faces felony second-degree assault under Minnesota Statute 609.222<\/a>.<\/p>\n That charge carries up to seven years in prison.<\/p>\n It also carries a possible fine of up to $14,000.<\/p>\n He also faces a felony threats of violence charge.<\/p>\n That offense can carry up to five years in prison.<\/p>\n The third count alleges misdemeanor domestic assault.<\/p>\n That charge carries up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n More court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch<\/a>.<\/p>\n Criminal charges are allegations.
