{"id":56932,"date":"2026-09-29T18:31:43","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T23:31:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/?p=56932"},"modified":"2026-09-29T18:31:43","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T23:31:43","slug":"elvina-shimpa-96","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trfnews.i234.me\/wordpress\/elvina-shimpa-96\/","title":{"rendered":"Elvina Shimpa, 96"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Greenbush \u2013 Elvina Norma (Wiskow) Shimpa, 96, of Greenbush, went home to be with her Lord on September 23, 2026.<br \/>\nElvina was born at home on March 6, 1930, to Dewey and Edna Wiskow. She completed the eighth grade and then stayed home to help her mother care for her siblings. After learning to drive, Elvina worked at a restaurant in Greenbush with her best friend.<br \/>\nElvina loved going to barn dances with her siblings, and it was at one of those dances that she met Louis Shimpa. They were married on October 21, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church. Together they made their life on a farm in Barnett Township, where Louis had grown up. They built a new home and raised milk cows, chickens, pigs, and whatever else was needed to provide for their family.<br \/>\nElvina was Louis\u2019s right hand. Wherever one went, the other was right there. They were a pair.<br \/>\nElvina was a member of United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, where she enjoyed quilting, serving lunch, and helping with Bible School.<br \/>\nShe loved to crochet, bake bread, sew, and can produce from her garden. Her family remembers having every kind of sauce to eat. Elvina loved her garden, although she and the tiller did not always get along too well! She could whip up a meal faster than McDonald\u2019s and always made sure everyone who came to visit was fed.<br \/>\nElvina also loved playing cards, and her favorite board game was Aggravation. Neighbors, friends, and just about anyone who stopped by had to play. Her family joked that if the family dog, Odis, could have played, Elvina would have made him join in too.<br \/>\nElvina is survived by her children, Susan (Brian) Rice, Lois (Bill) Wollmann, and Joyce (Joe Schoenfelder) Shimpa; grandchildren, Eric (Mandy) Rice, Kristi (Steve) Holm, Chad (Kelly) Rice, Melinda (Matt) Ives, Jeremy (Melissa) Wollmann, Lisa (Kevin) Maliborski, and Cody (Emily) Madoll; great-grandchildren, Reed, Ryder, Cason Rice, Cody, Jaiden, Caleb, Jacob Ives, Raina, Garrett Wollmann, Kade Maliborski, Blaze Mathews, and Mia Madoll; brother, Arnold Wiskow; sister, Lorraine Kvien; many nieces and nephews; and her good friend, Junieve Lundgren.<br \/>\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Edna Wiskow; husband Louis Shimpa; brothers, Douglas, Eugene, Mailen, and Floyd Wiskow; sisters, Lorrette Walz and Lewella Jackson; and great-grandson, Shawn Hamann.<br \/>\nSee you in Heaven, Mom!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greenbush \u2013 Elvina Norma (Wiskow) Shimpa, 96, of Greenbush, went home to be with her Lord on September 23, 2026.
